Activision has officially revealed Call of Duty: WWII. The game has been rumored to be in development for several months since unofficial promotional artwork leaked online.
As expected, the next game in the Call of Duty franchise is being developed by Sledgehammer Games. The game will return to the World War II setting, but doesn't necessary return to the classic gameplay that made the franchise popular.
The new trailer that was released last Wednesday shows the attack on Omaha Beach during D-Day as well as several random shots of the game's singleplayer campaign.
In the game players will play through the story of ordinary men turned soldiers in the 1st Infantry Division as they fight to preserve freedom in the face of tyranny. Call of Duty: WWII delivers fast-paced, boots-on-ground combat through iconic locations in the European Theater.
On the multiplayer side players will fight in several famous World War II locations. The game also features co-op multiplayer capabilities in the form of yet another unoriginal nazi zombie shooter gamemode.
For the release of the game Activision and Sony have engaged in a strategic partnership that aims to gives PlayStation 4 console owners advantages over others, as they will have the ability to play a during a closed betatesting phase, which Activision calls "Private Beta".
As usual with Call of Duty games, this title comes in several different editions, The Standard Edition, the Pro Edition, the Digital Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition, some of which will be severely overpriced as the Digital Deluxe Edition retails for $99.99 in North America and €99.99 in Europe.
Call of Duty: WWII is scheduled to launch on November 3rd 2017 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
