ArenaNet has announced that it will be launching changes to the Guild Wars 2 PvP League system. With the new system the game's developer hopes to achieve a more competitive environment.
The new system is supposed to more accurately indicate the player's skill level, giving more consistent rewards across the skill spectrum, and ensuring upper divisions are occupied by skilled players who have put in the time and effort to make it there.
In the new upcoming PvP Season, pips will no longer be used for matchmaking purposes. Removing the pip restriction on matchmaking means more players to match with and subsequently shorter queue times.
In addition to this change, the results of the recent community poll for Solo/Duo queue restrictions means Ranked Arena will only allow a maximum party size of two, ensuring that players never face off against larger, coordinated premade teams.
With the new changes ArenaNet hopes to be able to create the best matches possible at all times.
Also changing in PvP with the upcoming update is a change to rewards given to players that win matches and rank up. In the new system pips have been refocused into a purely reward-based system.
In addition to rebalancing all reward tiers and upping the amount of liquid gold, and we’ve also added a new currency that allows players to purchase ascended weapons and the Ardent Glorious ascended armor set.
The Guild Wars 2 PvP League update launches December 13th 2016.
