Independent publisher Mode 7 has announced a new indie settlement building game titled The Colonists.
In the game players take control of a team of robots tasked with settling a newly-discovered planet, preparing the ground for an influx of inhabitants from their homeworld.
They will advance from the Stone Age to the Space Age as they build the infrastructure for their colony by constructing complex road, boat, train and drone transport systems.
The game will feature a singleplayer campaign, a free-to-play mode, a competitive multiplayer mode and a co-op multiplayer mode.
The Colonists is said to be inspired by classic titles such as The Settlers and the Anno franchise.
It is the second title published by independent publisher Mode 7. Their first title, Tokyo 42, was released earlier this year. In our review of the game we gave it a 6 out of 10.
The Colonists is being developed by independent development studio Codebyfire and is expected to be released via Steam Early Access in August.
