In Super Mario Odyssey players will be able to freely explore a new 3D Mario world game, making it a sequel to the classic Mario games Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine.
In the game Mario has jumped out of the mushroom kingdom into an "unknown landscape". The game world will feature locations based on real life, including New York City.
The game is expected to launch in the holiday season, meaning that it will not be one of the console's launch titles.
