Rockstar Games has started sending out promotional merchandise for Red Dead Redemption 2. The game was announced last October.
Retailers have reported that they have received the first promotional merchandise for the game last week, which will most likely be used to maximize the game's pre-order sales.
Pre-ordering schemes have come under increased scrutiny in recent years because retailers accept pre-orders years before games are even remotely close to being finished, often resulting in lower ratings because players either expected something else or expected more content.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature "an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland" set in a vast and atmospheric world.
The game will also feature a brand new online multiplayer experience that seems to be similar to Grand Theft Auto V's online multiplayer experience.
Red Dead Redemption 2 launches in the fall of 2017 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
